

Here is a one anna brass coin. One anna (aanaa) is the sixteenth part of the rupee in the pre-metric days. This coin is scalloped instead of being circular. On the obverse, we have large numeric "1" written in the middle. The word "ANNA" is split around it. The word "INDIA" is above and the the year below. Curiously, the languages appearing on the coin have increased. We see Devanagaree (presumably Hindi) "एक आना" (meaning: one anna) on bottom left. The same is written in Bengali on bottom right and in Urdu on top left. The Telugu wording with the same meaning is on top right.
