Here is the original two rupee coin. This was introduced along with the smaller nickel rupee. This created a lot of confusion at that time as this was exactly the same size and thickness of the older rupee coin that was still in circulation. The obverse of the coin has the Ashoka Pillar on top of the numeral "2" indicating the denomination. Around it are the words of the text. On the right is the English text "RUPEES" and "INDIA". On the right is the Hindi text "रुपये" (rupaye, meaning rupees) and "भारत" (bhaarat, meaning India).

This twenty paise coin was introduced as a replacement for the earlier round-shaped brass twenty paise piece. The earlier coin was too heavy and costly to produce due to high inflation. This new coin was produced in aluminium and was shaped as a hexagon. On the obverse is the denomination and the year along with a floral border and on the reverse is the Ashoka Pillar.

This stainless steel 25 paise coin was introduced as a replacement for the earlier nickel coin for the same denomination. This happened along with replacement of the 10 paise, 50 paise, and the 1 rupee coin. On the obverse, there is the Ashoka Pillar on top of the numeral 25 that indicates the denomination.

On the reverse, we can see the Indian rhino with no other text than the minting year.
